1. Agency215 + Blue Source remind us to stop for a moment and take things in with our latest collaboration on Nescafe

Its been a long history of a52 and Agency 215 creating beautiful spots for Nescafe and this one is no exception. This marks our sixth spot that we’ve worked with the creative team and the first one with our other long time friends at BlueSource.

Beautiful compositing at the hands of Jesse Monsour make this spot one to remember in the campaign. We look forward to these spots every year… we can’t wait to see what the team dreams up for 2013.

  2. Target Goes Back to School with a52 and Andreas Nilsson

Our favorite music teacher is back for more… (jeans that is) with the help of director, Andreas Nilsson and our very own Jesse Monsour.  Jesse took to his stop motion animation skills and helped Andreas and the Target team at WK create a world where jeans and backpacks march to a beat all their own.

  3. Corona Light “Stan”

Good times with Mike Mills and GS&P.

  4. Nike Golf “Moments”

Always up for a challenge – we definitely found ourselves looking for creative solutions when Wieden & Kennedy + Max Malkin brought the latest Nike Golf project our way. The goal was to take some the great moments in recent tournament golf and strip the crowds away to experience the contrast between the serenity of the golf course and the excitement that comes with the tournament and the crowds.

The process was turned upside down as shots were picked and edited ahead of shooting – then came the fun part. Lead artist Jesse Monsour explains “We faced most of the challenges during production when we were shooting plates to match the stock footage exactly. We were able to get fairly close in camera but not perfect. We had to make a lot of adjustments in Flame to match up the shots more precisely. The next challenge was in the fact that these new plates we shot were incredibly clean, high-resolution images from a RED Epic camera. The stock footage was from various sources shot on cameras that aren’t meant to capture images nearly as clean and crisp. We had to play around a lot to find a look that would marry the two separate images so that the stock footage wouldn’t feel so cut out against these super clean backgrounds.”

  5. VW “The Dog Strikes Back”

VW returns to the Superbowl with another Star Wars themed spot. We would like to give a shout out to our talent, Bolt, who was absolutely amazing on set.

  6. Jesse Monsour | VFX Supervisor | Flame Artist

Jesse Monsour is our favorite kind of story. After graduating from the University of Colorado with a degree in film studies he moved to LA to pursue a career in film. Lucky for us he found his way to a52 where he started off as a production assistant. He put in the long hours and decided VFX was where we wanted to be. Jesse did leave us for some time – he honed his skills as a staff artist at MacGuff and freelanced at other VFX shops such as The Mill, MassMarket, Asylum, Logan, Sea Level, Ring of Fire and Arsenal. But, in time Jesse found his way back to us, and we love having his homegrown talent here as a shining example of how hard work, and a great eye can lead to tremendous things. Jesse has worked with top clients and agencies such as Nike, Chrysler, Hyundai, Coke, Verizon and Dodge. He also worked on the Emmy award winning titles for Carnivale. Jesse’s artistry extends far beyond the Flame – and if you’re out and about in LA you may catch his band The Ghost Trade out at local clubs.
